Indigenous Veterans Day and Remembrance Day 2024

The Canada, BC, Okanagan Nation Alliance and UBC flags at UBC Okanagan and the Canada flag (at Flag Pole Plaza) and the BC, Musqueam and UBC flags (temporarily relocated to the East Mall Entrance and Plaza at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre) on the UBC Vancouver campus, will be lowered on Friday, November 8 and on Monday, November 11.

On November 8, flags on both campuses will be lowered in recognition of Indigenous Veterans Day. The national day recognizes the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people who have participated in Canada’s military efforts.

On November 11, flags on both campuses will be lowered in recognition of Remembrance Day. The national day honours those who have served and continue to serve in times of war, military conflict and peace. All UBC Okanagan students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend a ceremony in their local community. If you are in Vancouver on November 11, you are invited to attend the ceremony at the War Memorial Gym.
