Orange Shirt Day and The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The Canada, BC, Okanagan Nation Alliance and UBC flags at UBC Okanagan and the Canada flag (at Flagpole Plaza) and the BC, Musqueam and UBC flags (temporarily relocated to the East Mall Entrance and Plaza at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre) on the UBC Vancouver Campus will be lowered on Friday, September 30, 2022, acknowledging Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. September 30 is a day to honour and uphold Survivors and intergenerational Survivors of the Indian residential school system, and to commemorate those who didn’t return home. Commemorating and learning the history and continued impact of residential schools and other colonial legacies is fundamental to truth and reconciliation.
