The Canada, BC, Okanagan Nation Alliance and UBC flags at UBC Okanagan and the Canada flag at Flagpole Plaza and the BC, Musqueam and UBC flags at the east entrance of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC in Vancouver are lowered today in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8, 2022. The flags will be lowered from now until sunset on the day of the funeral and memorial service (to be determined).
Note: The flags will be raised on the day on which the accession of the new monarch is proclaimed (date to be determined).
UBC had the honour of hosting Her Majesty four times on the Vancouver campus, in 1951, 1959, 1983 and 2002.
