Flags at UBC Okanagan will be lowered on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, in memory of staff member Sara McDonald, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1 in Kelowna. After a two-year struggle with ALS, she spent her final moments with her four children, Nathan, Jordan, Rachel and Elisabeth Lige.
Sara was employed at UBCO since 2010. She held positions in the Institute for Community Engaged Research, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the College of Graduate Studies, in addition to projects with the Disability Resource Centre, the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship and the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.
Our sincere condolences to the Lige and McDonald families, and Sara’s many friends and colleagues. The family has asked that donations in memory of Sara McDonald be made to Cool Arts Society or to ALS BC.
