The Canada, BC, Okanagan Nation Alliance and UBC Flags at UBC Okanagan and the Canada flag (at Flagpole Plaza) and the BC, Musqueam and UBC Flags (at the North Plaza of the Life Building) on the UBC Vancouver Campus are currently lowered in remembrance of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away on April 9, 2021. The flags are lowered until sunset on the day of the funeral, Saturday, April 17.
UBC had the honour of hosting Prince Philip four times on the Vancouver campus, in 1951, 1959, 1983 and 2002.
