Flags at UBC Okanagan will be lowered on Friday, October 6, 2017, in memory of Dr. Blair Spearman, Professor of Mathematics in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences, who passed away on October 1, 2017.
Dr. Spearman earned a PhD in mathematics from Pennsylvania State University in 1981. After working for the Canadian Dept. of National Defence and teaching at various institutions, he and his family came to Kelowna in 1988. He taught at Okanagan College, Okanagan University College and UBC Okanagan.
