Irving K. Barber

Flags are lowered today, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, in memory of Dr. Irving K. Barber, OC, OBC, prominent Canadian and British Columbian, who passed away peacefully at home on April 13 at the age of 89.

“Ike” as he preferred to be called, graduated from the Faculty of Forestry in 1950 and received an honorary degree in 2002.  Dr. Barber believed strongly in the value of education and the importance of access to education and he was closely involved with UBC both in Vancouver and the Okanagan.
