Flags at UBC Okanagan were lowered on Wednesday, June 20, in memory of Dr. Alan Paeth who passed away on June 3, 2018, and Dr. Chris Willie, who passed away on December 21, 2017.
Dr. Alan Paeth was an associate professor in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics. He taught at Okanagan University College prior to joining UBC Okanagan in 2005.
A memorial service will be held at Mission Creek Alliance (2091 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC) on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation to bring a PET/CT scanner to Kelowna (http://bit.ly/bccf-paeth) or to the Central Okanagan Hospice House where he spent his final months.
Dr. Chris Willie was a post-doctoral fellow in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Social Development. An award-winning researcher, Chris was a graduate of Kelowna Secondary School with an undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary. He completed his PhD at UBC Okanagan in 2014. A celebration of life will be held in Penticton on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
